- Purpose and Scope
This document sets out the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) policy applied by Kamloops to all accounts registered and operated on the platform in Canada. The policy establishes procedures intended to prevent money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and other forms of financial crime in connection with online casino activity.
Obligations under this policy are grounded in the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA), administered federally by the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC). Where applicable, provincial regulatory requirements issued by authorities such as the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC), and equivalent bodies in other provinces are also observed.
This policy applies to all account holders regardless of the volume, value, or frequency of their activity. By maintaining an account with Kamloops, you acknowledge and accept the obligations described in this document.
- Identity Verification (KYC)
2.1 When Verification Is Required
Identity verification is required before processing withdrawals, upon account registration where risk indicators are present, and at any point during the account lifecycle when the compliance team determines that verification is necessary. Verification may be triggered by transaction patterns, account activity, or applicable regulatory thresholds.
2.2 Accepted Identity Documents
To verify identity, a valid, government-issued photo identification document must be provided. Commonly accepted documents include:
- Driver’s licence issued by a Canadian province or territory
- Provincial or territorial identification card
- Canadian passport
- Permanent resident card
- Secure Certificate of Indian Status
Documents that are expired, altered, damaged, or otherwise inconsistent with information held on the account will not be accepted. Provincial health cards are not accepted as identity documents under applicable federal regulations.
In certain circumstances, a temporary driver’s licence may be accepted in combination with an additional supporting document, subject to assessment by the compliance team.
2.3 Proof of Address
Where required, you must provide a document confirming your current residential address. Acceptable documents include recent utility bills, bank statements, or official government correspondence issued within the preceding three months. The address on the document must match the address registered on the Kamloops account.
2.4 Proof of Payment Method
For withdrawals, confirmation may be required that you are the authorised holder of the payment method associated with the account. The specific documentation required will be communicated at the time of the request.
- Source of Funds
Kamloops applies a risk-based approach to determining when verification of a player’s source of funds is required. Where the compliance team identifies indicators consistent with money laundering or unusual financial activity, documentation may be requested to demonstrate the legitimate origin of funds deposited or wagered.
Acceptable source-of-funds documentation may include payslips, tax returns, bank statements, or other records appropriate to the stated source. Failure to provide satisfactory documentation may result in account restrictions, refusal of transactions, or account closure.
- Transaction Monitoring and Reporting Thresholds
Account activity is monitored on an ongoing basis. Transactions meeting or exceeding CAD 10,000 are subject to mandatory reporting to FINTRAC in accordance with federal requirements. Identity verification and transaction logging are applied to single transactions of CAD 3,000 or more involving the receipt of funds from, or payments to, account holders, consistent with applicable provincial standards.
Transaction records maintained by Kamloops may include the transaction date, amount, currency, account holder name, account number, residential address, date of birth, occupation, identification document type, document number, issuing jurisdiction, and expiry date where applicable.
- Ongoing Monitoring
Account activity is subject to continuous review. The compliance team analyses transaction patterns, incident reports, and account behaviour to identify activity that may be inconsistent with a player’s stated profile or that presents indicators of financial crime. Where such activity is identified, escalating measures may be applied, including enhanced verification, transaction holds, account restrictions, or account closure.
Procedures are maintained for reporting suspicious activity to FINTRAC and, where required, to the relevant provincial regulator. Copies of reports filed and supporting records are retained in accordance with applicable recordkeeping obligations.
- Player Obligations
You are required to provide accurate and complete information at the time of registration and throughout the account lifecycle. Kamloops must be notified promptly of any changes to personal details, including name, address, or occupation. Providing false, misleading, or incomplete information constitutes a breach of this policy and may result in immediate account suspension and reporting to the relevant authorities.
You must not use a Kamloops account to conduct, facilitate, or conceal any activity that constitutes money laundering, terrorist financing, or fraud under applicable Canadian law.
- Minimum Age Requirement
Account holders must be at least 21 years of age. Age verification forms part of the identity verification process. Accounts found to be held by individuals below the minimum age will be closed and any funds held will be handled in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Consequences of Non-Compliance
Failure to complete identity verification within the timeframe requested, or failure to provide satisfactory documentation, will result in suspension of withdrawal processing. Continued non-compliance may result in permanent account closure. Where required by law, relevant information will be reported to FINTRAC or the applicable provincial authority without prior notice to the account holder.
- Data Handling
Personal information collected for AML and KYC purposes is processed in accordance with the Kamloops Privacy Policy and applicable Canadian privacy legislation. Information is retained for the period required by law and is not used for purposes other than compliance, fraud prevention, and regulatory reporting.
- Policy Updates
This policy is reviewed periodically to reflect changes in federal and provincial regulatory requirements. The current version of this document governs all active accounts. Continued use of an account following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
